a bit about
Melody Revnak
Melody is an accomplished nature and outdoor portrait photographer with over 3 decades of experience. Her knowledge of optimizing an outdoor portraiture through the use of natural light, image composition and attend to detail is largely owed to her training from a renowned portrait photographer in the Bay Area. Her years of field experience in taming natural light to reproduce exquisite outdoor images has captured the attention of customers and collectors worldwide.
“While there are many things to consider when shooting outdoor portraiture, I’m especially mindful of optimizing natural light, flattering poses and capturing your families personalities!” ~ Melody Whether she’s working behind the camera or collaborating with her customers, her goal is always to capture a timeless memory that will delight her clients for many years!
Melody typically shoots in medium format (Pentax 645z) with a variety of lenses in order to capture the maximum amount of image detail. This will render the best possible image of her subject. We also will pull out a reflector or soft box to get the most beautiful light on our subjects which is you. Melody is assisted by her husband and partner who is focused on making the shooting experience both enjoyable and productive.
Our Outdoor Studio
The natural beauty of our far northern California landscape is truly remarkable. We are blessed with awesome rock formations, indigenous plants and trees, seasonal streams – all showcased in beautiful, natural light. And while these natural features are pleasing to the eye and soul, shooting outdoor portraits requires unique photographer experience and skill, the right equipment and the ability to harness what nature gives us in order to capture a high-quality image.
Our Outdoor Studio is located in West Redding. This 6-acre property has all of the above-mentioned natural features. In addition to natural rock and fallen tree sitting areas, we have added features such as walking bridges, a swing, a rustic fence – in order to give our customers numerous settings for their portrait. With an abundance of trees, we enjoy year round shade that provides excellent natural lighting which can be enhanced, if necessary with external reflectors and/or soft box lighting.
