Hello!

I’m Melody—an award-winning, published photographer with a deep love for capturing genuine connection and natural beauty. For over 30 years, I’ve been photographing families, couples, and scenic landscapes in soft, golden light—and I still fall in love with this craft every time I pick up my camera.

I work with both a medium format Pentax 645Z and high-resolution Sony mirrorless cameras to deliver stunning, detailed imagery. I rely on natural light whenever possible, gently enhancing it with reflectors and softboxes to create soft, flattering portraits in any setting.

My husband and I work together on each session, making the experience relaxed, personal, and joyful. Whether we’re celebrating a love story or gathering generations for a family portrait, I’m here to create meaningful images you’ll treasure for a lifetime.

Our Outdoor Studio

The natural beauty of our far northern California landscape is truly breathtaking. With stunning rock formations, native plants and trees, and seasonal streams, all bathed in beautiful natural light, it’s an ideal setting for outdoor portraits. However, capturing these natural features in high-quality images requires specialized experience, the right equipment, and the ability to harness nature's light.

Our Outdoor Studio, located on a 6-acre property in West Redding, offers all of these elements. In addition to natural rock formations and fallen tree sitting areas, we’ve incorporated unique features like walking bridges, a swing, and a rustic fence to provide a variety of portrait settings. With an abundance of trees, we benefit from year-round shade, providing perfect natural lighting that can be enhanced with reflectors or softboxes when needed.

This complimentary consultation can be done over the phone, in person, or via FaceTime. It’s a chance for you to share your vision, and for us to collaborate on a plan to meet your goals. We’ll also address any questions you have and discuss the details. If you’re ready, we can even schedule your session!

Sitting (Photo Shoot)

This session is designed for you and your family to enjoy. We’ve done the planning to ensure a smooth and memorable experience. The duration of your session will depend on your selected package, whether you choose our outdoor studio or another location.

Review your Images

After your session, I’ll narrow down the photos to 30-40 of the best shots and lightly edit them for optimization. You’ll be notified when they’re ready to view on a secure webpage, typically within 5 days. I’m happy to schedule a Zoom call to go over the images and answer any questions you may have. Your gallery will be available on my website for 21 days.

Select your Images

Select your favorite image(s) and prints if you choose to have me print for you. You can notify me electronically or call me directly with your order or with any follow up questions. We can deliver digital images and beautiful artwork within 2-3 weeks.
